Super Tuesday

HAHA how unoriginal is that title? HAHA.. but in all honesty it really is a big day tomorrow. Which means everyone of you that is registered to vote in the crucial states.. go VOTE. It only takes a few minutes out of your time, but has the potential to change the course of history. While its true that your one single vote does not really matter.. if you, however, take into account that if you organize and get a handful of people together, then yes your vote does matter. So if you vote, and I vote, and my mama votes then guess what we're working up to becoming a bloc, the bloc of concerned citizens.. no citizens of a democracy. But ok for this upcoming election, I think we really do have a chance to make history and advance the nation. I talk like this because I'm a registered Democrat. I'm not going to hide my political inclinations, but if you're a republican or independent or a libertarian i hope you comment on this post to get your voice out. I don't know exactly how everyone's going to vote, but I do know how I am going to vote. This is my rationale for the propositions and then finally the presidential candidate i want to back for the primaries.

Proposition 91:
I don't think this one counts because the people that wrote this want you to vote no on it. So this is a definite no w/o any explanation or reasoning.. haha.

Proposition 92:
Dealing with Community College Funding
I personally went to a JC for two years before transferring to LA. I received Financial Aide during that time and in all honesty it paid for more than just tuition, but covered me for books and a lot of personal expenses. It helped me to get through college without having to worry about getting a job and supporting myself. So college students definitely do need financial assistance and JC's are a great way for many students to save money while going to college and giving them an opportunity to transfer out to a more prestigious school. While all of this is true and JC's do need funding I believe this proposition is the wrong way to go about it. It would take money away from our K-12 education while reducing tuition for the most part for people that don't really need the break. If you're under a certain line you get financial aide with your tuition, I got my tuition paid for all the time. Also, its not like tuition is that expensive, it only reduces it by maybe at max 5 dollars a unit which amounts to maybe a savings of $75 dollars for the average student? That's not much of a help for anyone. JC's need to be better funded, but not by taking money away from our K-12 sector.
My Vote: No.

Proposition 93:
Term Limits on Legislatures
While many are against this because it will lengthen the term limits for some state senators who are under investigation, we must look at this proposition with a little more analysis. Yes, this is somewhat unfair and gives an advantage for some senators to hang on a little longer than they could have. But, is it worth it to screw ourselves just to say no to 40 people? Proposition 93 makes a lot of sense and it will in the end help our state. It will give legislatures enough time to understand politics and become less reliant on lobbyists. A yes vote means reform and change, and a better tommorow. Our state is in constant debt and uncertainty, better seasoned and learned legislators will help to change that.
My Vote: Yes

Proposition 94-97
Indian Gambling
The way I understand it, Indian land in California is not California land, but rather the land of the Federal Government. Thus, this makes Indian lands outside the jurisdiction of California Laws in the sense that Indian held lands are their own separate government. So, the fact that Indian tribes are giving a single penny to California is amazing to me. We should in my opinion just be thankful to what they give us and not try to screw over a people who have been screwed over for more than almost 5 centuries. Sure they get more slot machines.. but they all go to tribes that already have gaming and California gets more money so we don't have to raise taxes (by much). Republicans should really like that. While I believe we must raise some our taxes to offset our debt, any way the state of California without explicitly selling its soul gets some revenue- is good enough for me, and should be good enough for you.
My Vote: Yes

Presidential Nominee:
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama
I'll only discuss these 2 because that's all I'm allowed to vote for. Not that I'd vote for anyone else. Well actually my choices were John Edwards and Barack Obama. Now before you think I'm going to crazily support Barack Obama.. read on. I flip flopped between Obama and Edwards because to me sometimes Obama didn't go far enough. He tried to stay to middle of the line at times. Of course to a certain extent he has to because he is such a revolutionary candidate, theres only so much he can go out on a limb for. To me the biggest concern I have about his policy is not his leadership experience (he was president of Harvard Law Review.. if you read one L you know what that means), his race or his gender.. none of that matters because I want to judge him on his policy. And the one policy that I have questions on is Health Care. If you read the New York Times today than you may have seen the op-ed piece of Paul Krugman concerning Health Care.. heres the link:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/04/opinion/04krugman.html?_r=1&ref=opinion&oref=slogin
The piece basically argues Hillary has a better plan because it calls for a mandate. I tend to agree with this view because if you don't make it into a mandate, you give the insurance agency more leverage to weasel out of actually providing safe, reliable health care for everyone. I don't know if Clinton's plan would actually pass in the senate, but I do think Obama has to follow in the footsteps of Clinton and Edwards and make Healthcare for every American a mandate. I hope Obama realized he can say that without being falsely labeled as the biggest liberal out there since, ah lets say Ted Kennedy. But, sure its great to talk about policy differences, you also must to a certain degree factor in Personal differences. Barack Obama is a more charismatic, eloquent, and honest leader than Hillary Clinton. He inspires change and give millions hope for a better tommorow starting with a better today. He is our one true hope for not only change, but also for a climb back up to prominence and seriousness. He is the one person that can look into the eyes of other world leaders and their citizens and show them the United States of America is not run by Idiots empowered by ignorant voters, but rather intelligent citizens who not only care about the state of the country, but the security of the entire world and the health of the planet. It is time once again we take our American spirit and help transform and change the destiny of the world. Instead of Global warming lets reduce our emissions, instead of talking about defeating the terrorists lets go get them in Afghanistan and pacify the Middle East to curb the rise of suicide bombers, instead of blaming groups of people for failed economies, lets do away with the tax cuts for the rich and corporations that make profits of more than 40 billion dollars, and give help to those that truly need it: the ever shrinking middle class and the ever growing impoverished class. Barack Obama is our one true hope for change. He has the power to inspire us to be better. To be more than selfish. To be more than just another person. He like John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. before him has the power to inspire and lead the nation to reach higher heights than ever before.
My Vote BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!
